Debra,

In theory, this can be done from the Admin -> Configuration -> Store Configuration  menu.  In practice, this depends upon the template implementation, and changing this setting largely affects only products.

Alphabetizing Categories

I would like for my categories in my shopping cart to be in alphabetical order.  I have noticed that when I go in and edit a category, it automatically goes to the bottom of the list.  Can anyone help me with this?
